In FS2, we have been developing our ICT skills.

ICT skills can help promote confidence and also persistence – encouraging pleasure in learning by enhancing engagement, motivation and the lovely desire to learn.

So, after a little introduction on how to use the iPad – off we went and got snappy!

The children loved experimenting, the choice of the subject was entirely up to them, as were the camera angles – natural, self learning is so wonderful to observe.

They decided when they needed to point the camera high…

…when it needed to be low …

…and when we needed to bend down to capture the perfect picture!

The children took photographs of their friends (and teachers!) having fun and being happy…

…photographs of shadows…

…close-up photographs of the frost…

…and our outdoor equipment.

⭐️ We think their photographs are amazing! ⭐️

FS2 on the hunt for Cinderella’s jewels

This week we have been searching for Cinderella’s jewels.

Poor Cinderella, when she was getting ready for her wedding to the handsome Prince Charming, the crown slipped from her head and all of the beautiful jewels fell off!

We we searched high and low… digging and scooping, we found some hidden in the mud… they were still sparkly even though they were a little dirty.

Looking here, there and everywhere … look how many we found!

There were even some hidden away in the water… we carefully cleaned and collected them before they went whirling down the drain!

Cinderella will be so happy that we have found all her jewels 💛👑💛

FS2 PE – A fabulous, physical Wednesday

This week during PE, we have been working on our physical development.

We have been focussing on our overall body strength, balance, co-ordination and agility and developing and refining our ball skills, by catching throwing and aiming.

On our obstacle course, we were able to practise moving more fluently, with developing control, balance and spacial awareness.

We used the hurdles, to practise our jumping and landing skills.

We all all had a amazing time…regular exercise helps to keep us healthy and happy!

FS2 – Library

Friday is library day in FS2.

We choose our own ‘reading for pleasure’ book to take home and share with our family.

We look at the front cover and the blurb on the back to help us decide…

…there are books about trains, traditional tales that our parents remember…

… books about cats and pirate adventures…

…stories about birthdays, spacemen, school trips and animal tales!

We love books!

FS2 Children in Need 💛

What a fabulous day!

It was fun to come to school dressed in our Pudsey bear, sporty and spotty clothes… we all looked amazing.

We found out about where all the money raised goes and how it helps children with food, toys and a safe place to live.

We exercised with Joe Wicks, put on the correct number of counters and made patterns on Pudsey’s scarf during Maths, painted, glued and stuck on Pudsey faces and we even decorated our own Children in Need buns to take home…

…it was a wonderful day 💛☺️💛

FS2 Forest School

Some more FS2 children enjoyed mud painting during our Forest School session this week.

First we carefully made our paint brushes with the sticks and leaves that had been collected…

Next, we carefully scooped and mixed our mud… adding water and powder paint to make beautiful colours…

After that, we got to work on our amazing creations!

We all shared the colours we had made.

Look at our masterpieces!

Aren’t they just wonderful?

FS2 – Outdoor water fun

This week we have had an amazing time exploring and investigating in our outdoor water area.

First we used the hose to fill our containers…we turned some of the water red, we even added some bubbles too!

Next, we used different containers to collect and move the water…some held lots of water but others only held a little…

…we scooped, hooked and even painted with our water!

After that, we worked together to fill the gully with water… we paddled in it too, it was great fun!

Then finally, we scrapped away the leaves so the water could go down the drain.

We love working together with our friends, sharing and team work gets the job done 😊

FS1 – PE Session

During PE this week we found out about how water changes … first we felt the water, it felt soft and squishy..

…then we felt the ice, it was very cold! It was slippery too and we even gave it a smell…it made our noses cold!

We talked about how Jack Frost makes water freeze and how the beautiful sunshine makes it melt.

Then, we all moved around in different ways and then we practised ‘freezing’.

After that, we took it in turns to be Jack Frost, when he touches you you must stop and freeze! It was good fun and we were all so good at following instructions.

Next, we took turns to be the sunshine – if you had been frozen, once the sunshine touches you, you melted and could move again.

We were very clever at stopping, starting, changing direction and freezing.

Finally, we practised jogging, jumping, skipping and hopping too, we are very good at moving around outside carefully.

A beautiful Autumn day in FS2

FS2 enjoyed the beautiful Autumn sunshine today 🍂🍁🍂

We took all the leaves outside that we had collected on our way to school this week and threw them into the air!

It was so much fun and it made us all smile…

…and then we collected them all back up and did it all again!

We drummed an Autumn beat, made up an Autumn dance and enjoyed designing our own gingerbread men from our story this term… we love Autumn!
