This week in F2, we have started our story, Puffin Peter.
This is a story about Peter and Paul. They are the best of friends, but when Peter gets lost in a terrible storm he can’t find Paul anywhere. With the help of a big blue whale, Puffin Peter sets off to find him and they find all kinds of birds that match Peter’s description, but none of them are quite like Paul. We all made up signifiers to help us tell this story.
During our topic lesson, we looked at the different animals from the story and we sorted sea and land animals. We thought about how we could describe different animals… colour, size, number of legs, then we sorted them into sea and land animals.
In maths we have identified patterns and had fun creating our own. We also looked at which numbers are odd and which are even. We also learnt more words to describe the position of objects.
In art, we found out all about the artist Yayoi Kusama.
She is a Japanese artist who is sometimes called ‘the princess of polka dots’. Although she makes lots of different types of art – paintings, sculptures, performances and installations – they have one thing in common, DOTS! Then we took inspiration from Yayoi and filled the initial letter of our names with colourful painted dots, they all looked fabulous!
We were so happy that the sun finally came out this week. And we were able to enjoy lots of time learning, in our wonderful outdoor area. Please remember to apply sunscreen before school and also send your child with a water bottle and a sun hat.
