Year 2 have been looking at the poem ‘I Wish I Was a Pirate’ by Tony Bradman. We learned signifiers for the poem and the performed our poem to the rest class.
We are now going to write our own pirate poems based on Bradman’s poem.
Year 2 have started a new Science Topic; ‘Living Things and Their Habitats.’ First of all we learned what a habitat was and then we looked at a Polar Habitat, River Habitat, Ocean Habitat and a Forest Habitat. After that we sorted animals into the correct habitats!
Y2 have been learning about The Great Fire of London. Today we looked at the causes and consequences of The Great Fire of London. We thought about the negative consequences and the positive consequences that came after the fire.
We have loved being back in our Read Write Inc Phonics groups this week. We love the reading part of our session and really enjoy our partner practise. One of us gets to be the teacher and the other one read a page of the book. Then we swap over! It is great fun!
In History, Year 2 have been learning about The Great Fire of London. In English today we started a new writing unit; Diaries. We have been learning about Samuel Pepys and reading some extracts from his diary entries. We found out lots of information from his diary entries. We are going to be writing our own diaries based on his work.
Year 2 have been learning about plants this term. They have learned the parts of the plant, the things a plant need to survive and have learned about different plants that we can eat. Year 2 used their Computing skills this week to create an informative leaflet all about plants. In their leaflet’s the added text and pictures. They also changed the font size and colour.
Year 2 have been learning about Sikh beliefs and Sikh symbols.
We have learned about the 5K’s.

This week we learned about the holy book, Guru Granth Sahib. We learned that the book is worshipped like a king. A Chauri is waved over the book when it is been read. We had a look at a Chauri in class.
