Year 2 have been celebrating anti-bullying week this week. They started the week by wearing odd socks for odd socks day. Then they looked at the key message ‘One Kind Word’. Finally they made their anti-bullying pledges.

In Year 2 this week, they are exploring the big idea ‘Do colourful drinks have more sugar?’
They made a prediction of many sugar cubes each drink contains. Then they counted the amount of sugar in each drink.
Finally, they made their conclusions.
Year 2 have been learning about hygiene in Science. They have investigating what will happen to bread when touched with clean and dirty hands. They made a prediction and then carried out their investigation.
They are going to record their results each week for the next 3 weeks.
They can’t wait to see what happens.
Year 2 have been investigating what happens to our body when we exercise. They did a variety of exercises in the classroom and then recorded how they felt after each exercise.
Year 2 have been learning about the events of the Moon Landing in History today. They used newspaper articles to learn about what happened.
In Key Stage 1 we invited our parents and carers in this week to stay and read. We showed our special visitors what we do in our Phonics lessons. Then we read our reading book to our visitor and our visitors read a book for pleasure to us.
We had a great time!
In Year 2 our Design and Technology unit this term has been puppets. First of all we investigated different puppets. Then we learned how to sew a simple stitch.
After that, we designed our own puppet. We then used what we had learned to make our own puppets!
We were happy with the end results!
In Year 2 we have been studying the pirate adventure story ‘The Night Pirates’. This week we are going to write our own story based on it.
Today we innovated the ending and wrote our own end paragraph in pairs.
We had some fantastic ideas.
In Year 2 our new topic is ‘Explorers of the Sea’. We thought about explorers that we have already learned about this year. Then we thought of questions to ask Christopher Columbus. We then learned the story of Christopher Columbus’ discovery of the New World. We acted the story out in groups.
Year 2 have been learning about the continents and oceans this week in relation to the Equator. We can locate all of the continents and oceans and name them from largest to smallest.
