The Hub

Today was such an exciting day. Noah has been very shy and has hesitated when  playing or interacting with his peers even with adult support.

This morning he watched Tyler get the cars and drop them down the track.  He then let go of my hand and went over to the side and got himself the other track. Tyler then handed Noah a car and he copied what Tyler was role modelling.

He was so happy and excited. What a fabulous thing to see…so happy Noah is enjoying the Hub and is now joining in.

Interventions

The children have been having so much fun during our Friendship groups. They can all share and turn take with each other. They love to catch the frog and they enjoy it when we play look who is different.

Our other groups are also so exciting as we can choose a game and play it with our friends. We can also pretend to be the teacher and ask the teacher to follow our instructions.

Lots of fun and lots of learning.

Magic beans

We are growing our own beanstalks this week. We’re not sure if the beans are magic or not, but we can’t wait to see them grow.

We talked about what plants need to grow, we decided they need water and sun.

So, we placed them in the bag with the cotton wool (instead of soil), then watered them. After that, we stuck them to the window so they can get some sun and we can see them grow. We cant wait to see what happens.

We are musicians

What a musical afternoon we’ve had. We have been using the Boomwhackers again to explore sound and make music.

We discussed the different tubes, thinking about the length, colour and the different notes they made.

We got into colour groups and played our Boomwhackers together.

We copied rhythms and practised stopping and starting.

It was great fun.

The Hub

The children were so excited today to see the Meerkats. They watched them jump around and come over to us to see us all.

The park keeper let us inside to look through the big screen.

The park was full of new exciting equipment and Hunter loved it.

He explored all the park and even counted the numbers painted on the floor. He asked for a push on the swing and did good listening and looking.

F2 Pancake Day

We learnt about Shrove Tuesday, and what Christians do on this day.

The talked about Jesus and the time he spent fasting in the desert.

Then we ate pancakes. We chose our own topping and put them on the pancakes.

Some were very tricky to spread.

Most of us enjoyed trying the pancakes

 Some of us did not

After we ate the pancakes we had pancake races in the garden.

This is a 600 year old tradition on Shrove Tuesday.

It’s great fun!

Henri Matisse in F2

Today we looked at who Henri Matisse is and his art work. Some of his art work that we looked at were ‘The open window’, ‘Women in a purple coat’ and ‘The goldfish’. Then we focused on his art work called ‘The snail’. Once we discussed them we make some of our own representations of ‘The snail’ as well as creating our own pieces of art work and named them. We cut up and stuck on different shapes and colours to create our art.
