Bug houses

We have been busy this week building bug houses. We talked about how creepy crawlies like to live in small spaces and making them a bug house like this might help them to survive the weather and stay safe from predators and maybe have babies. The children decided that these houses would be best for spiders and maybe some ladybirds.

The children used cardboard tubes as their ‘walls’, then stuffed it with natural materials, such as grass, twigs, moss and leaves. This sounds like a cosy bug house to me!

Trip Trap Trip Trap

On Tuesday we had a visitor come to the classroom… they were looking for juicy goats and wanted to hide under a bridge…

They soon left the classroom when they found only children. But the boys and girls wondered where they had gone and why there were talking about goats.

We went on an adventure to see if we could find any clues!

We can across a bridge in the classroom and some goats!

We also found a story… Can you guess what it was?

Miss Carrick read us the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff.

And we kept a close eye out for the troll!

Planting

The children had a lovely time planting on Friday. They developed lots of skills whilst doing this little job and had a lot of fun.

We chatted about what the plants need to help them grow. We’re going to carry on looking after them next week.

Cosmic Yoga!

This week in F2, we had an absolute blast doing Cosmic Yoga! The children loved going on silly, magical adventures and pretending to be everything from wiggly worms to twinkling stars.

We stretched, balanced, and took big deep breaths, all while having a giggle and using our imaginations to bring the stories to life. It was a lovely way to get our bodies moving.

The children really enjoyed slowing down and feeling calm. Yoga has definitely become one of our favourite ways to relax and play!

Who knew being calm could be this much fun?

Goldilocks and the three bears in f2

What a fantastic start to our new book this week. The children have been really engaged in the new topic and exploring the different areas in the classroom. They have been learning and retelling the story, roleplaying the characters and creating art with a Goldilocks theme. It’s been great to see how much everyone has enjoyed the new book and really immersed themselves in the topic.

F2 September Photo drop

Here are some photos from September. Play, learning, joy, fun and friendships.

F2 Stay and play

Thankyou to all the parents for coming to our ‘stay and play’ session. The children really enjoyed sharing the classroom with you and showing you all their favourite places to play and learn.

F2 Owl Babies

The children have loved exploring the story of Owl Babies. We have learnt the story and actions to help us with this. We sequenced the story and talked about the beginning, middle and end. We have been exploring Owl activities and pretending to be owls. We made feather crowns to help us to pretend to be owls and used leaves to make an owl collage.

We finished the exploration of the story by changing the story. Miss Carrick’s class changed the owls to foxes and Mrs Wilkinson’s class changed the owls to hedgehogs.
