KS1’s Royal Ball

Our new topic in Key Stage 1 is ; What makes someone Royal? Our pod has been transformed into a castle with the children looking at castles and the Royal Family past and present.

As a Wow day to launch our topic we all became Royal for the day. We came to school dressed as kings, queens, princes and princesses.

We wrote party invitations for our ball, made jeweled biscuits, bunting and learned a ballroom dance.

In the afternoon we held a Royal Ball in the hall and performed our ballroom dance. It was such a fun day. We can’t wait to get started on our new topic!

This week and next Info

Please can we stick to our normal timetables for the rest of this week. Hub children need to be in the hubs until Friday- back in class from Monday.

Can we please continue with English, Maths and topic until Friday and then from Monday Christmas activities are fine or any finishing off things you need to do.

Can I also remind teachers that there will be no PPA next week.

Many thanks, Laura x

A busy week in mathematics

This week the Hubs have been very busy with children working hard on their mathematics.

In Foundation, Bobby, Raphael and Davy spent time in our ‘Woodland’ working on their counting and sorting skills.

These Year 5 boys worked outside with Mrs. Pearson on their number bonds.

Destiney has been working hard with Mrs. Thordason to learn important number facts.

STEM Challenge

The children in Year 3/4 recently embarked on a Phase STEM challenge to create a ‘Spaghetti Structure’ which was strong enough to stand unsupported! Spaghetti and marshmallows were the only materials the children could use to create their structures. Ideas and designs briefs were shared within groups before the children got on with the task. Children had to decide whether the power of triangles or squares was the best design feature to use in order to create a strong spaghetti structure. Great teamwork, skill and creativity was demonstrated and lots of fun was had by all!!!

2D Shape Challenge!

Miss Stewart’s Y3 Maths class had to work collaboratively to identify and sort 2D shapes in as many different ways possible! The children demonstrated super teamwork skills and were confident in sharing their great knowledge and understanding of 2D shapes!!
