As an end of unit quiz, Miss Stainton’s maths class were sent on a fraction problem solving hunt within their pod. This involved the children answering a variety of fraction related questions which all had a WW2 theme! Great work Y3!

Miss Stainton’s English class have been working extremely hard learning about formal and informal letter writing.
We have been in touch with a Catholic primary school in Cheshire and have all been given a pen pal to write to! This gives us a chance to demonstrate and practise our letter writing skills. Yesterday we drafted our letters and thought of some interesting facts and questions to include them, and today we wrote them up ready for Miss Stainton to post!
We can’t wait for our replies!
Miss Stainton’s class really enjoyed their afternoon in the pod hunting for QR codes! They were given a Blitz quiz and had to search for the answers using the scanner on the iPads. Lots of excellent teamwork skills were being demonstrated as they worked in pairs and they found out some really interesting things about how Hull was affected during this time period in History!
Year 3 loved our workshop with Indigo Moon Theatre today, we created some fantastic string puppets!
Children worked co-operatively in pairs and used their own imaginative ideas to decorate them so that each puppet looked slightly different. We learnt all about the history behind these puppets and had a chance to perform with them to some traditional Indian music at the end of the session. Thank you to Hull 2017 for funding this session! #cityofculture
Year 3 have been learning about how people would try lift their spirits during the WW2 period by gathering together to sing songs. We loved learning ‘Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Mr Hitler?’
Miss Stainton’s English set have loved getting into character as WW2 soldiers and have been reenacting a scene from The Battle of the Bulge. They experienced what it would it would have been like out in the cold and enjoyed getting into character using the props. Excellent acting skills guys!
Year 3/4 loved getting messy as we mushed up food and fed it through our digestive system (tights!) to see how fluids and vitamins are absorbed into the body whilst the rest comes out as waste! What a fun Science experiment!
Today Miss Stainton’s class were finding fractions of a group of objects. They then created their own problems for a partner to solve and became the teacher as they marked their answers. Well done!
Over the past couple of weeks Year 3 have been working hard to improve their passing and dribbling skills within football. Today they worked together in pairs to pass accurately through coloured cones and things got competitive in a knock out game! Their accuracy and team work skills are really improving, keep it up!![IMG_5448[1]](https://cdn.realsmart.co.uk/4cb0baa657de3331d3114cffd0357cc3/uploads/2017/02/IMG_54481-300x225.jpg)

Miss Stainton’s English set have been working hard creating a story linked to the Battle of the Bulge which took place in WW2. They started off by studying evidence gathered from the battle which helped them piece together a story and main character. They then used the immersive learning area to help get their imaginations working as they produced some amazing creative writing linked to the storyline!
