Year 3/4 Land Art!

We had a special visitor in to work with some of the year 3/4 children this week. We had lots of natural resources to use and worked together to create land art. Our theme was ‘Jungle Book’ and it was really fun to create some of the characters from the book! We all had a fantastic time working as a team and using a wide range of resources.

Identifying different types of angles

Miss Stainton’s maths class have been busy working collaboratively to identify different types of angles. We have been using the vocabulary ‘obtuse, acute, and right angles’ when describing them. All of the angles were linked to rainforest plants which also helped our topic knowledge!

Y3/4 Meet some rainforest animals and insects!

We all arrived at school this morning super excited for our visit from Zoolab! We have been looking forward to this for weeks because we knew we would have chance to see, and even touch, some of our visitors! We were all very brave and loved getting up close to these animals and insects… Look at some of these photographs which show how much fun we had! What an amazing morning!

Rainforest Shape Hunt

Miss Stainton’s maths class have been very busy this week learning about the properties of a wide range of 2d shapes. Today they had to solve some rainforest animal riddles to reveal the hidden shapes the animals were hiding! There was some excellent team work going on as the children ventured around the pod working in pairs.

Rainforest Artwork

Miss Stainton’s class have been working really hard on their drawing, cutting, and sticking skills recently! We have been inspired by our new topic ‘Rainforests’ and have drawn some fantastic artwork. We also studied the fascinating ‘Morpho butterfly’ and created our own models of them. We definitely have some excellent artists in year 3!

Learning to tell the time!

Miss Stainton’s maths class have been working hard over the past few days learning how to tell the time. Today they were given pretend watches to wear and they had to ask all of their classmates to show them their watches. They then had to work out what time it said and write it down on their sheets. The children worked so hard to try complete their sheets so that they had everyone’s times written down, excellent work year 3!

Rainforest Fact Files

Miss Stainton’s class really enjoyed immersing themselves in their rainforest themed pod this afternoon as they worked hard to carry out independent research on their topic. They were given some key questions to investigate and worked in pairs to research these using the iPads whilst also exploring what could be found in the pod! Some children even got into character by dressing up as rainforest explorers! Super work year 3.

Year 3/4 Rainforest WOW day!

Year 3/4 were really surprised when they walked into their pod after the Easter holidays to find it had been transformed into a tropical rainforest!

They spent the day hunting for QR codes to scan which revealed interesting facts about the rainforest. The children showed excellent team work as they worked together to complete their booklets. We are really excited to find out more about the rainforests over the next term!

Year 3/4 WW2 themed school trip!

Just before the Easter holidays, years 3 and 4 visited the Hull Heritage Learning Museum and took part in a variety of WW2 activities as a fabulous finish to their topic. The day included opportunities for the children to take part in evacuee role play, fact finding and exploration of real WW2 artefacts plus exploring the rations and looking at what food they would have had to survive on during this time period. The children had a fantastic time and it was excellent to see them share all of their knowledge with the staff who worked there. They have all worked so hard this term learning about all things WW2 and they really deserved this exciting school trip to top off an excellent spring term! Well done years 3/4!IMG_5674[1] IMG_5675[1] IMG_5676[1]

Y3/4 WW2 Production!

Year 3/4 loved performing their WW2 themed production to the rest of the school and parents and visitors. They were proud to showcase some of their work and performed classic WW2 songs accompanied by some dancing! All the children looked fantastic in their evacuee outfits and they have thoroughly enjoyed learning about this interesting topic!
