Ex-pupil wins Hull FC Young Player of the Year

This weekend we were very proud to see our ex-pupil, and sponsored player, Brad Fash awarded Hull FC’s ‘Young Player of the Year’ award. Brad has had a fantastic season, cementing himself into a first team spot and playing well in all of his games.

Well done Brad, we are looking forward to seeing what you can achieve next season.

First day back – first amazing achievement

Here at CP we love sport and love to celebrate our children’s sporting achievements both inside and outside of school. It was great to see that Ella Parker, Y5, has had a busy summer completing her marathon challenge and brought in her certificate and medal to show us – on the very first day!

Huge well done Ella, this must have been very hard indeed!

Keep a look out for Ella’s name in our inter-school Cross Country event on 20th October!

Gold Award for a record fourth year!

We are very proud to announce that Christopher Pickering Primary School has been awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Award for a fourth consecutive year – the first primary in the City to achieve this.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in another year of fantastic primary sport. Special thanks to our School Games Organisers – Alex Sherwood and Mark Arridge.

School’s Out! – staff rounders

To celebrate the end of a fantastic year, a staff and children’s rounders match was played on the last afternoon. It was the East Petal Misfits (plus FS and Y56 staff) versus the West Petal Piranhas (plus Y12 & Y34 children).

It was a fantastic afternoon of friendly competition with the Piranhas eventually winning by a tiny margin!

Sports Clubs come to an end – WATER FIGHT!!

This week our summer sports clubs came to and end for this year. In the summer term,  children across Years 3,4,5 and 6 have enjoyed: dodgeball, football, rugby, cricket, rounders and hockey. So what better way is there to finish a summer of fantastic sport than mixing sports with a water fight?

Year 56 had a great time attempting ‘Water Bomb Cricket’ ‘Splash Ball’ and other inventive and highly fun games!

Posted at a few photographs before Mrs. Sanford decided to pour a bucket of water over my head from the top floor – meaning the camera had to be kept safe inside!

Thank you for a fantastic sporting year children; bring on 2017-18!

After winning the Level 2 Orienteering championships, both team and individual, our Year 5 team represent Hull at the annual Humber Games held at Hymers College. This is a fantastic day out and really is a day to remember.

Overall our children finished a fantastic third; collecting medals and certificates. We are very proud of them and expect big things in next year’s Y6 competition. Well done!

An exciting adventure!

This week Lily and Destiney have been on a adventure with Mrs. Thordason learning about nature and the environment. They looked for bug in the rotten wood, discussed how we look after birds and caught up with jobs in the poly tunnel. Great work girls!

A busy week in mathematics

This week the Hubs have been very busy with children working hard on their mathematics.

In Foundation, Bobby, Raphael and Davy spent time in our ‘Woodland’ working on their counting and sorting skills.

These Year 5 boys worked outside with Mrs. Pearson on their number bonds.

Destiney has been working hard with Mrs. Thordason to learn important number facts.

Y6 Undertake important research!

This week, Y6 have been very busy undertaking important research an presenting their finding’s through pie-charts.

Firat children came up with important questions such as ‘What is the best flavour of I-cream?’ or ‘Who is your favourite teacher?’

Their results where then tallied and converted into a pie chart.

Well done Vanessa!
