House Captains Visit the Houses of Parliament

Yesterday, our House Captains made a visit to London for a tour of the Houses of Parliament. They had a fantastic trip and were great school ambassadors. The trip the Parliament was a great chance to see democracy in action and how the country was ran. Well done children!

We visited Trafalgar Square and saw Nelson’s column

Buckingham Palace – the King was home but sadly we didn’t see him!

Travelling on the underground was busy but fun.

Westminster Hall, mid-way through our fantastic tour.

A trip to McDonalds for tea was popular!

Back home at 10pm! A long day but very enjoyable.

KS2 Enjoy their new play equipment!

There was excitement on the playground this week when we launched our new play equipment for KS2. Children got to grips with their new materials aimed to encourage open-ended and imaginative play, while encouraging children to be physically active. Initially feedback is very positive and we hope to add more soon!

Flexdance Workshop Day!

Today we’ve celebrated Flexdance Inc’s birthday with a day of dance workshops! Years 1-6 all took part in a fabulous session where they learned a dance to some current hits! Well done everyone, it was great to see so many children (and staff!) have a great time.

Year 4 English Hook – Cinderella

Today year 4 launched their new English unit with a mysterious box….

They were tasked with identifying which story they will be reading in English over the next few weeks. As each item was revealed, they had to use their inference skills and piece the clues together. Very tricky until a single slipper was revealed!

We can’t wait to get stuck into ‘The Egyptian Cinderella’ by Shirley Climo and read the amazing work which is sure to follow!

Y4 Mental Health Report

Today Y4 launched their video ‘Looking After Your Mental Health’ for the start of Children’s Mental Health Week 2025. This formed part of a really interesting English project where children learned all about the importance of mental health. They then wrote reports and finally worked in groups to come up with a report which they could report. As a year group, we merged the best bits together and created this video report written by them. Huge well done to the children who presented their parts so well, and a big well done to all children for their contributions both on screen and off!

Y4 Dodgeball!

Tonight our Y4s represented the school at a fantastic dodgeball competition. The event was themed around developing sporting values, and instead of finishing positions, children were asked to demonstrate self-belief, teamwork and honesty. All of our children were fantastic and came away with a certificate acknowledging their achievement – well done!

Y4 Gymnastics – Building Bridges!

This afternoon was our first PE session of 2024 and saw Y4 throw themselves – in a control and purposeful way of course – into gymnastics! Our unit ‘bridges’ is about exploring different way we can create gymnastics poses using different points of our bodies on different apparatus. Today we did some group bridges which turned out great! Well done children.

Today we ended the Autumn term with our first ever Santa Run – and what fun it was! Thank you so much to parents who made a fantastic effort to dress up along with children and run the course around our school field. The funds we raised will be put to good use for new outdoor equipment. Merry Christmas!

D&T – Y4 Electronic Games

Today was the final step of our autumn term DT project – electronic board games. Children spent the day applying the circuit building skills they have been practising along with their final design plans to great an ancient Egyptian themed operation game. Well done children, your final products are fantastic!

Kristian went for a tomb raider approach where you have to remove the treasures from the Pharaoh’s tomb!

In Jame’s game, players have to remove a mummy’s organs and put them into canopic jars

Millie cleverly included the Egyptian god Anubis in her game. Dare you steal the precious jewellery?

A Magical Performance!

This afternoon was the final day Y4’s English unit based around ‘Leon and the Place Between’. For their last piece of writing, children learned a magic trick and wrote a set of instructions on how to perform their trick. Children then got a chance to practise their oracy by performing this to our Y2 children who absolutely loved seeing some magic!
