Year 6 Artwork

Year 6 had so much fun exploring and expanding their knowledge using print work today. They created etchings of Mayan glyphs and were able to transfer the prints into their sketch books. They examined a range of glyphs carefully and then replicated these with great detail. Excellent work year 6!

Year 6 Science Week begins

This morning in Mr Sutton’s class, we have been extending our knowledge on the human body. We were lucky enough to have some Injury Minimisation Programme for Schools training (IMPS). The class really enjoyed learning about the different ways to save a life. They learnt about how to keep the heart going through completing DRS ABC and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR. Also throughout the morning year 6 enjoyed looking at the tools which aid recovery such as casts and steri-strips.

Y3/4 and 5/6 Athletics competition

On Tuesday the 6th of June Y3/4 and 5/6 took part in an amazing athletics competition, we threw a vortex, had a standing long jump, a 50 meter sprint and a 400 meter relay race. We sat in the grandstand at Costello stadium and we were against a lot of different schools. We were outside and inside throughout the day even though it rained on us! We were inside for the vortex throw and the standing long jump, we were outside for the 50 meter sprint and 400 meter relay. We had our lunch in the hall, we liked everything and we think we did well! In the vortex throw if we hit the curtain we got 40 dojos and if it bounced and hit the curtain we got 15 dojos, unfortunately we didn’t quite hit it but we got very close! We had lots of fun at Costello and hope we get through to the final!

Y3/4 Historians

We in Mr Sutton’s English class have been imagining that we are historians! We have been researching and identifying how the life on the front lines was like. One of the areas we looked at was what injuries might have happened. We looked at how life at home was similar to life on the front line. Using pictures and sounds we discussed how we felt during the war! We also looked at a daily ration, I thought it didn’t look like much or look very tasty.

Y4 Letters from the front line!

In Mr Sutton’s class we have been imagining that we are soldiers on the front lines during WW2! We have been creating some fantastic letters home! Some of us even use tea stain to make it look more authentically old!

Fractions!

In Mr Sutton’s class we have been looking at fractions. We are able to show different representations of fractions. We were able to accurately find fractions of a piece of paper using a paperclip. Also found it fun predicting the and calculation the fractions of our throwing ability trying to recycle paper!
