A week in the life of FS2!

A few snaps from our fabulous week last week!

The last few weeks we have all been spending lots of time getting to know each other and learning the routines and golden rules of our classroom! We have explored all the different areas, inside and outside!

We have painted, explored, created, investigated and adventured! We have made self-portraits, investigated shadows, explored water capacity, created transient art selfies and most importantly of all…made new friends!

Foundation Stage Hub

The Hub children have had a fabulous time this week, they have enjoyed all of the activities and a fabulous trip to the park!

Foundation Stage Hub

We are so excited  for our children to see our fabulous Hub. Our new soft play area will defiantly be their favorite place to be.

Lots of sensory in our Sensory House and lots more fun activities for the children to see.

We have done lots of activities this week and have enjoyed the Sensory room, Soft play and the outside area,

They have had lots of exercise and have enjoyed been very active. All the children joined in with the climbing and turn taking. The sun was shinning and this made the boys very happy.

Yayio Kusama

F2 have had a wonderful week exploring the work of this terms artist… Yayio Kusama! We have loved learning all about Kusama and how she became a famous artist. Orginally from Japan, Kusama’s artwork is now all over the world and she is well known for her love of… DOTS! This has inspired us and sent us a bit dotty! We have dotted the letters in our name, our snack fruit bowl and given us inspiration for our Father’s Day cards…’dotty about you!’

Safari Day!

F2 had the BEST day today… going on their very own adventure Safari!

Following on with our topic ‘Wonderful World’ we have been reading the story ‘Handa’s Surprise!’ This story has taken us to Africa, were we have explored a variety of different fruits and animals! We decided we wanted to board the plane and jet off on our very own safari! We created our very own safari truck and used our binoculars to see if we could see the amazing animals of Africa! We did some fabulous African dancing, had our faces painted and spent lots of time down at the watering hole! F2 made some fabulous lists of the animals they saw and bathed some of the more muddy messy animals!

We can’t wait to make a fruit salad tomorrow with some of the fruit we collected and carry on our exploration of the amazing continent that is AFRICA…

F2 ‘BIG BUILD’ Stay and Play!

Thank you once again to everyone who attended our F2 ‘Stay and Play’ this week! We had a fantastic afternoon with our ‘BIG BUILD’ and the weather held out for us! It was a glorious afternoon and you all made some amazing creations! Our theme was bridge building following on from our story ‘The Three Billy Goat’s Gruff’ and we had lots of brilliant Humber Bridges created! We also painted bridges, made sandcastles, junk modelled and built using Duplo, stickle bricks, lego and big crates! Thank you again for a successful afternoon, as always the children loved it and loved showcasing our amazing classroom indoors and outdoors!

Nature Club!

This week in Nature Club the children loved searching for bugs in our mini-beast hunt! We found lots of different insects and were able to name them all! We looked at mini-beast books to learn interesting facts about each one! We found lots hiding under logs and bricks around school, hiding in the dark and damp. We had great fun making mini-beast homes and ticking off all the ones we found. We continued this learning in school by following the children’s interests and ideas by making a brilliant bug hotel! The children have loved adding to it in the Foundation Stage garden…

New Visitors!

Here in F2 we have some lovely new visitors staying with us over the next couple of weeks! Meet… THE CHICKS!

We were very lucky to see seven of our Chicken eggs hatch from our incubator and have had such a great time watching them grow over the last few days and start to gain their adult feathers! We have loved taking care of our chicks, and now they’re getting a bit bigger they are definitely eating and pooing a lot more!!!!

We have been changing their bedding, making sure they have plenty of food and water and giving them lots of cuddles! We have talked and discussed about what these baby chicks need to grow bigger and stronger and what will start to happen as they grow into hens or cockerels. We have also learnt lots of interesting facts about our chickens and how intelligent they really are! Did you know they blink the opposite way to us to protect their eyes from dust and sand coming up?

We are hoping to see them get a lot bigger in the next few weeks before Grandad Chicken returns to collect them and take them back to their farm!

Farm Visit!!!

What a fabulous afternoon Foundation Stage have had meeting and greeting lots of new friends from The Purple Pig Farm! Following our topic of ‘Farms and Countryside‘ we got to meet some characters from a local farm… the three pigs, two little lambs, Indie the calf, Orion the long-haired rabbit and lots of very cute and cheeky ducklings and chicks! The children thoroughly loved the afternoon and had so much fun petting, stroking and chatting to the gorgeous animals of the Farm. Rachel, the animal handler, told us lots of interesting facts about the animals and all the jobs she has to do back at her farm. We got chance to ask her lots of questions and have in-depth discussions about animal fur, hair and feathers!
