This week in F2…

This week in F2, we have continued our story of Jack and the Beanstalk.

In literacy we have been retelling the story using our signifiers (actions used to help tell the story), sequencing the story, describing Jack and the Giant, drawing a story map and some hot seating (one child dresses up as a story character, sits in the special chair, pretending to be them. The other children then ask them questions, such as why they did the things they did and how they felt). They all loved putting on a wig and an outfit and getting into character, pretending to be the Giant, Jack or his Mum.

Maths has been about the numbers 9 and 10… spotting them, writing them, counting them, finding different ways to make them and lots more!

Our topic we learnt all about what plants need to grow and we planted our own magic bean, I wonder if we’ll get any beanstalks growing?

In PE we focused on our bat and ball skills, throwing, catching and taking turns as well as our warm-up and cool down exercises.

We made some beautiful sounds using the boom whackers in music this week, listening carefully to how each one made a different sound.

As always, we have spent lots of time learning and discovering outdoors…we’ve pretended to be Jack climbing the beanstalk on our climbing wall, then escaped the Giant by sliding down the pole! We’ve made potions in the mud kitchen, built castles in the sand, hunted for Giants and much, much more!

It’s been such a busy week!
