Hull Hub Fair!

We have had the best time exploring all our emotions and senses at our ‘Hull Hub Fair’ this week!

Our Hub classroom was set up just like the real Hull Fair with stalls and simulating rides!

 

We travelled in style in our ‘Hub Bus‘ observing our local area and visiting Hull Fair!

We saw lots of rides and were amazed at the size of the ‘Big Wheel’. We viewed the homes of the travelling community and bought some tasty treats to try at our food tasting session.

We couldn’t wait to taste all the food we bought at Hull Fair! We tasted candy floss, pomegranates, brandy snap, nougat. We loved the texture of the coconut but we didn’t want to taste it.

We made our own candy floss, using cotton wool. Some of us weren’t too sure about the texture and didn’t like it sticking to our fingers.

Making our own chocolate apples was the best activity of the week. Most of us went home with very chocolate but very happy faces.

World Mental Health Day

In our Hub today, we participated in World Mental Health Day by wearing yellow and identifying our emotions during circle time. We expressed how we were feeling by choosing between a happy or sad visual.

We love being outdoors. This makes us all feel very happy.

Harvest Hub!

We have had bumper crops in our Hub this year, using a variety of painting techniques to simulate apples, carrots and sweetcorn.

We explored our senses by looking, feeling, smelling and tasting our fruit and vegetables before painting them.

We enjoyed printing with real apples that we hand picked from our community orchard visit.

We loved using a potato masher, making patterns to create our sweetcorn.

The painting technique that we enjoyed the most was footprinting. We had our feet painted then printed on paper, creating the most amazing carrots. It was very sensory………and tickly! The paintbrush tickled us so much that we couldn’t stop laughing.

We had a wonderful sensory experience for our ‘Harvest Thanksgiving’.

 

In the Gold Book this week is …..

Blake for his excellent intensive interaction work! Blake has made great progress and we are all so very proud of him. He really enjoyed attending the Gold Book assembly today and seeing all of the other boys and girls, he sat smartly at the front and went up to collect his certificate from Mrs Marson with the largest, proudest smile on his face!

 

Hello Autumn!

Felling all autumnal in our Hub!

Our little treasures have been busy little Hubbers making handprints for our seasonal tree, gathering leaves for their autumn crafting activities, making autumn hats, wreaths and stained glass hedgehogs.

We are loving the season of autumn already.

Fun Friday

We loved expressing ourselves by singing, dancing and being creative during our Fun Friday session!

We enjoyed our sensory mark making which made us very messy but very happy.

 

HUB Artists

Today, we looked at the same piece by Alexander Calder but our focus was on skill development. We worked on how we held our brush, how we applied the colour and how we used small controlled strokes to cover an areas effectively with colour.

 

Autumnal Craft

Our little Hubbers have been very busy making there own personal autumnal hats to wear and wreaths to go on their houses.

We gathered all the fallen leaves on our nature walk then waited until all the leaves had dried out before starting our craft activities.

We enhanced our fine motor skills by very carefully placing each leaf on our hat and wreath before using our glue stick to complete.

We loved the sensory feel of the crunchy leaves.
