Royal Portraits

This term in key stage 1 we have been looking at a the topic of ‘What makes someone Royal?’ As part of our topic we have been looking at the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Being The Queen, Elizabeth II has had lots of portraits painted in her image, so we thought we would give this a go.

In art, we explored a range of different media to create portraits of The Queen, including: painting, sketching, pastels, collage and computers.

Here is what we created.

You could create a portrait of The Queen at home.

How many different ways can you do it?

Crayons? Hama beads? Pasta? Chalk?

The possibilities are endless!

Royal Portraits

Key Stage 1 have been painting portraits of a member of The Royal Family. Can you guess who they have painted?

We have displayed them in our castle for everyone to be able to see!

Safer Internet Day

For Safer Internet Day  this year, Key Stage 1 looked at a story featuring Buddy the Dog. He helped us to learn how to stay safe on the internet. We wrote our own internet safety messages for Buddy.

Here are some messages from Year 1:

Safer Internet Day 2018!

Miss Stainton’s class enjoyed participating in a range of safer internet day activities this afternoon. We spent a long time discussing how to use the internet and social media platforms sensibly and safely.

We then finished the afternoon by acting out different situations which could happen when using the internet…there are some fantastic actors and actresses in year 6!

Viking non-chronological reports

We have been working really hard in Y5/6 to gather information about ‘The Vikings’. Last week, we embarked on a Viking QR code hunt challenge and searched the pod for lots of interesting facts. This week, we used those facts to write up a non-chronological report. Our writing skills are really improving! Well done!

Translation

Miss Stainton’s maths class have been working really hard this week completing translation challenges.

We have improved our accuracy and are confident in translating a range of simple and more complex shapes across all 4 quadrants, incorporating our knowledge on co-ordinates too! Excellent work!
