When the farm came to visit us in school.

Purple Pig came to visit F1. We had a really good time learning all about farm animals.

We watched the ducks splashing in the water. They were very messy.

The pigs were really hairy. They had curly tails too. They wag their tails when they are happy.

Orion the rabbit was really fluffy. We brushed its long hair.

Indie the cow was very soft and gentle. She had tiny udders. She munched on her hay and slept a lot in the sun.

The lambs were very cheeky and nibbled on our fingers. We fed them milk and they drank really fast.

The Foundation Stage Hub

The boys have had a great week enjoying all our activities and resources.

All the boys are now learning to share and are playing together. They are also trying new things which is amazing to see and watch.

Connor loved the small ball pool ,he decided to throw all the balls out and get inside to play

Outside is a great physical activity that all the children love to do

.All the equipment is a great way to give the boys plenty of exercise.

New Visitors!

Here in F2 we have some lovely new visitors staying with us over the next couple of weeks! Meet… THE CHICKS!

We were very lucky to see seven of our Chicken eggs hatch from our incubator and have had such a great time watching them grow over the last few days and start to gain their adult feathers! We have loved taking care of our chicks, and now they’re getting a bit bigger they are definitely eating and pooing a lot more!!!!

We have been changing their bedding, making sure they have plenty of food and water and giving them lots of cuddles! We have talked and discussed about what these baby chicks need to grow bigger and stronger and what will start to happen as they grow into hens or cockerels. We have also learnt lots of interesting facts about our chickens and how intelligent they really are! Did you know they blink the opposite way to us to protect their eyes from dust and sand coming up?

We are hoping to see them get a lot bigger in the next few weeks before Grandad Chicken returns to collect them and take them back to their farm!

Farm Visit!!!

What a fabulous afternoon Foundation Stage have had meeting and greeting lots of new friends from The Purple Pig Farm! Following our topic of ‘Farms and Countryside‘ we got to meet some characters from a local farm… the three pigs, two little lambs, Indie the calf, Orion the long-haired rabbit and lots of very cute and cheeky ducklings and chicks! The children thoroughly loved the afternoon and had so much fun petting, stroking and chatting to the gorgeous animals of the Farm. Rachel, the animal handler, told us lots of interesting facts about the animals and all the jobs she has to do back at her farm. We got chance to ask her lots of questions and have in-depth discussions about animal fur, hair and feathers!

Nature Club!

Another beautiful week in Nature club! The children have loved going on ‘shopping hunts’ (as they like to call them!) recently and gathering and exploring what the outside has to offer us for free! We have loved the last few sessions taking part in ‘nature shopping’ and becoming more aware of the world outside around us and the signs of change and growth. We collected bits that caught our interest… through smell or colour or texture and loved discussing what we had found. We wanted to keep these precious finds so decided to laminate them and create ‘nature windows’. These came out beautiful and the children were very proud of their natural masterpieces!

Nature Club!

We had a fab time this week in our after school Nature Club! We went on a nature shopping trip, looking for different weeds and plants and signs of Spring/ Summer! We loved identifying plants and weeds we recognized around school and looking up the ones we were unsure of. We collected some weeds and leaves and decided in celebration of the weekends events to create crowns fit for King Charles! We looked absolutely fabulous in our ‘nature crowns’ and they smelt tremendous! Long live the King!!!

The Hub

Today Purple Pig Farm came in with all their exciting animals. There were pigs ,chicks, ducks, a calf and a lovely fluffy rabbit.

Connor was so happy to see them and could not wait for his turn to hold the ducks.

He sat and waited patiently for his turn.

Hunter stroked the calf and went over to talk to the pigs.

He loved holding the chicks and gave them a big cuddle.
