This week in F2, we have continued with our story, Puffin Peter.
We have had fun retelling the story using signifiers we made up together, these help us to remember the story. We have been discussing the different characters and where the story is set.
During our topic lesson, we have been focusing on Summer…talking about what the weather is like and what kind of clothes we wear in Summer. We shared ideas about why it is so important to use sunscreen and keep hydrated during the hot weather.
In maths we have continued learning more words to describe the position of objects. These words, such as next to, below, behind, underneath, help when we are talking about where objects are.
As well as practising for our ‘Fabulous Finish’ show, we got to watch the Year 6 pupils’ performance of Oliver. It was wonderful, we enjoyed it so much! We loved all the songs, the fantastic costumes and the brilliant acting.
On Wednesday we had our Seaside Day. Although the weather wasn’t too good, we still had the most amazing time… we splashed and paddled, dressed as pirates, crafted jellyfish and spotty fish, built sandcastles, hunted for treasure and enjoyed a delicious ice cream!
It was a wonderful day.
Just a few pictures of our day so far! The children have absolutely loved our seaside morning and the weather has not stopped us all smiling and having lots of fun!
We have been dipping our toes in the fresh ‘sea water’, digging and building in the golden beachy sand, scooping and serving our own delicious ‘play-dough ice-cream’ and dressing up and playing pirates! Argggh!!!!
In the creative area we have been crafting our own kites to fly at the beach along with some wonderful under the sea animals!
To finish off a magical and busy morning we were visited by our very own ICE-CREAM van! We knew he was on his way as he made sure we could all hear his music from the classroom! We all got to visit the van and pick our very own delicious ice-cream, yummy!!!
More fun to come this afternoon and fingers crossed for hopefully some sunshine!!!

A special visitor joined us in F2 today and for our afterschool Nature Club!
We were very excited to meet Dave the Horsfield tortoise and had great fun learning lots of tortoise facts!
We had lots of chats and discussions about reptiles, different types of reptiles and where they live around the world. We spoke about a tortoise diet, which lead to a fab dandelion hunt around school, and how important it is to care for their shell!
We loved comparing Dave to ourselves, pointing out his claws, beak instead of mouth, scaly skin and no eye-lashes or eyebrows!
The children were very caring and gentle with Dave and the session was very calming! The children have begged for Dave to come visit again soon and next time they’ll have strawberries waiting for him!
P.s the highlight of the session was giving Dave a toothbrush massage!!!!
It’s been a hot day today, so we started our after school club off with a cool refreshing ice-lolly!
We then got straight outside into our baby woodland area and started hunting for nature around us!
Today we decided to make our very own nature crowns, this looked fabulous with an array of natural jewels!
This week in F1 we are learning all about the story Commotion in the Ocean.
In the creative area this morning we have enjoyed creating waves by mixing the colours green, blue and white to blend and create different shades of each colour.

Another lovely week in our after school ‘Nature Club’!
This week we had a great time exploring mud and getting our hands dirty!
We enjoyed digging and scooping and stirring and mixing with water to create the perfect muddy clay consistency!
We then used our hands to mould and flatten the mud into oval and round shapes, ready for the perfect face!
For the features we went on a nature hunt and found the perfect eyebrows, eyes, smiles, noses and lashes! We were careful not to take too much from nature, we wanted to leave enough for the bees and other insects! But learnt that it’s ok to sometimes take bits that we need as long as we put back! We were very gentle with our taking and showed great skill in cutting, getting those fingers moving and keeping busy!
The finished faces, I think you’ll agree, look super cute and lovely! We were very proud of these!!!

In literacy we have continued with our story, Handa’s Surprise.
We have written ‘I can see’ sentences. We ‘pinched the sounds’ to help us spell; Handa, zebra and basket.
In maths we have been counting 2 groups of fruit, finding the total, then writing the correct number sentence (4+3=7 for example). We understand and can use the mathematical signs, + and =.
In art we have made something special for Sunday … we hope you love it!
During our topic lesson, we made our fruit salads which we designed last week. Some of the fruits we used were grapes, apples, pears and tangerines… we enjoyed preparing and tasting our fruit salads, they were delicious!
On Wednesday, we went to Pink Pig Farm. We all had the most wonderful time and all the teachers were so proud of all the children’s behaviour, they were an absolute credit to our school. Please see our school blog to see our amazing day.
We practised our races for our sports day during PE. We all enjoyed taking part and cheering each other on. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 18th at 9.30 am to cheer all the children on.
