‘Wellness Wednesday’

F2 have labelled our Wednesdays as our day for ‘Wellness Wednesday’, a day where we give ourselves a little hug… and perhaps a treat!

Today Mrs Buss brought jam and butter in for us to have with some toast!

The children loved this on a wet and cold morning and did a fabulous job at spreading their own choice of toast topping! A great activity for those fine motor skills and building strength in our fingers!!!

This was a lovely opportunity to take a moment to chat with friends and build on those social and emotional skills! We’re already looking forward to next week!

Movement and Yoga in P.E!

F2 are really loving our Tuesday P.E afternoons! We have had so much fun getting to know and explore the big spaces of the hall and dance studio! The last few weeks in P.E we have focused on good listening, attention and following instructions… and also practicing lining up and following leaders!

This week we explored finding a space in the hall and moving in and out of spaces. We listened to some music and thought about whether or not it was fast or slow music, this inspired us to move our bodies! We moved fast and slow and demonstrated brilliant listening skills! We then looked at following a leader and working together as a team! We loved doing this to music!

In the dance studio we loved looking at ourselves in the mirror, pulling lots of faces! We sang some songs- head, shoulders, knees and toes- and played lots of circle games which was lots of fun!

To finish our session we cooled our bodies down by listening to some relaxing music and focused on being still and concentrating on our breathing! The children were amazing at this and loved doing some yoga movement and poses! We tried cat, cow, downward dog, chair pose, flamingo and tree pose!

Special Delivery!

F2 had a very special delivery today, a package addressed to us with a very special stamp!

We were so excited to receive this delivery and couldn’t wait to start discussing what we thought might be inside! The children were very excited and used their fabulous imaginations to think of some fabulous ideas! Rupert thought that it could be a “puppet” inside! Lincoln was convinced it was a tiny aeroplane! And a few of the girls, Delilah and Olivia hoped for a princess doll!

When we opened the package we were astonished to see none of the above but in actual fact… a GIANT pair of TEETH!

The children were flabbergasted to say the least! And had great fun checking that their own teeth had not fallen out! Instead we got straight onto the investigation of whose teeth these could possibly be?!

Phoebe thought they belonged to a monster, whilst Sullivan suggested they could be a dinosaurs that have fallen out! Grace said they could belong to a ghost as they were so pearly white, but Anniya definitely thought they belonged to a giant, as they were “so so big!” The children were determined to find who they belonged to and had great fun exploring the classroom to see if we could see a monster or a dinosaur or a giant with missing teeth! We used our binoculars (and made some of our own!!!) to go on a giant hunt and look for the person, or thing, with missing teeth!

We had no such luck in finding them today but tomorrow we are going to draw who they think they might belong to and create some ‘wanted’ and ‘missing’ posters! In the meantime the children have said they will take good care of the teeth, this includes brushing, and discuss how they look after their own teeth!

Stay posted…

Dirty hands!

This afternoon children from F2 got busy digging and planting in our F2 flower beds! As part of Forest School we had a ‘wellness Wednesday’ out in the garden, weeding and planting some lovely flowers we were kindly donated! We had great fun using our hands to pull out the weeds and dig up and turn over the soil ready for planting. This activity made for a great opportunity to talk about plants, looking at the roots, stem and leaves, and also chat about all the things plants need to grow- soil, sun and water. We were very gentle with the plants and used our kind and caring hands to carefully plant them and nurture them into the soil!

Our F2 garden is very precious to us and we love to be out in our big outdoor space, but the maintenance of it needs a little upkeep! We make sure every week we pick up any litter that has been left from the school drop offs and pick ups, tidy leaves that have gathered and weed and water all our plant beds! I think you’ll agree that the after photo below looks marvelous and the children had a great afternoon keeping those fingers and hands busy and dirty!!!!

A great start in F1…

The new children have loved exploring outside, creating games and making friends. A good start to the year ahead.

F1 Stay & Play Finale

Today we celebrated our children who are moving up to F2 in September.  Lots of our families were able to join us for a fun afternoon of activities and it was a great success.

Thank you to everyone who was able to come!
