Little Monkeys Community Visit

We had so much fun during our stay at Little Monkeys for our well deserved Christmas treat.

Huge smiles and laughter completely filled the room.

Our little Hubbers were a credit to our school during their community visit.

Pickering Road Community Orchard Visit

Such excitement in our Hub today as it was our first community visit to Pickering Road Community Orchard.

We travelled in style in our minibus, enjoying the ride as we observed our local area.

Rosie and all the wonderful volunteers look after us so well during our visit.

We picked our own scrumptious apples.

We tasted some juicy apples.

We then went back to our Hub and made some ‘Gruffalo Crumble’ to take home for our tea. It was delicious.

A BIG thanks to the local HU4 Community Network Team for donating a variety of beautiful flowers and herbs to our Foundation Stage flower beds! We had the best afternoon weeding and preparing our planters! We loved using our gardening tools and trowels, and getting our hands all dirty with compost and soil! We planted a selection of beautiful flowers, our favourites were definitely the Sunflowers! And we explored the different smells from the herbs (Thyme) and Lavender! We talked about some of the purposes of these flowers and herbs and what they needed to grow. We also carefully planted some strawberry plants, ready to be picked in the next few weeks! We can’t wait to watch our planters begin to fully bloom in the upcoming weeks…

We looked at some pictures created by Piet Mondrian and noticed that he uses lines and blocks of colour.

We used 2Paint to create our own versions of Mondrian’s art.

Victory Leisure Trip

Wow! What a fantastic day we had visiting Vistory Leisure Caravan factories!

Some of our year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a fantastic real-life learning experience and had the opportunity to witness first-hand how some of the most luxurious caravans in the UK are made! Not only that, but various members of staff were more than happy to share their expertise and chat with the children about their route into this line of work and tips on the children could follow in their footsteps.

It was amazing to step foot inside the huge factory and see how much team work is involved in assembling the caravans

We were particularly amazed by the workmen’s vending machine…No chocolates and drinks in here – just tools and equipment to be dispensed!

It was great to chat to the lead graphic designer whilst he showed the children his high-tech software!

Mary was also keen to chat to the children about her job as an interior designer and how she furnishes and decorates the inside of the caravans.

And finally, the children completed a caravan designing task and shared their plans. The winning group were pleased with their prizes of giant chocolate bars!
