A little surprise…

When we looked in our special bag today, Harriet thought she spotted a bag of sugar but Charlotte said it was ‘powder’.  Eva guessed it was flour.  She was right.

Then we found a tub of salt.  Mrs Silverwood thought it might be sugar but tasted a little bit, it wasn’t very nice at all!  Elliot said that his Grandad likes salt.

We looked at the instructions, which told us how to make salt dough.  We thought it was a bit like play dough but, instead of putting it away when we have finished making things, we can bake them and keep them forever!

The children used their growing motor-skills to knead the dough and then roll it out.

Everyone will have to wait and see the finished article though!

Tree building!

F1 used some great control and coordination today when we made a ‘tree’ for our owl babies to live in.  We worked hard to use positional language too when we were planning on where to put our sticks and twigs.

Trixie took on the role of mother owl and few off to go hunting for food, just like in the story of Owl Babies.  Great work!

Children in Need

Our little superheroes have had fun burning off some energy after a very exciting Children in Need day…

Autumn Painting in F1

There was only this toy in our special bag this morning but Harriett knew that it could spin round and round.  Who knew that it would change colour as it whizzed round though!

Flying like owls!

F1 are reading Owl Babies.  We have watched a video and seen how owls fly.  They make no noise at all!  We had a go, using scarves for our wings…

Chocolate Apples in FS…

As part of our Hull Fair Day the children in FS all made a chocolate apple.

Lots of the children knew that we would have to melt the chocolate so that we could dip the apples into it.  They also remembered that it would have to be warm in order to melt so we might have to put it in the microwave or “cook it”.  It took a little more thought to work out what would happen to the chocolate once it had cooled down but we got there in the end.

Everyone really enjoyed making them and they definitely enjoyed EATING them!

Great listening skills today in F1!

The children have worked really hard today to identify circles, put them in order of size and follow instructions.  It was great fun making bear faces out of biscuits, chocolate buttons and chocolate chips, stuck together with icing.  As Rory said, “You can’t eat glue!”

After all the biscuits were made, we then practised drawing circles and drew our own bear faces.  Everyone worked so hard.  Well done!
