On Tuesday, our boys took part in the Premier League Kids Cup. A national competition which puts the Premier League football clubs against each other through primary school football teams. Tuesday was the first round in deciding which lucky school would represent Hull City at this year’s national finals, held at Chelsea’s ground, Stamford Bridge. Our boys did fantastic! They won all of their group games comfortably, finished top of their group and automatically progressed to the regional finals. However, there were still games to be played and a winner for the evening was to be decided – CP had to play Elloughton in the semi-final.

This last game was very hard for our boys. Three games on a large pitch on a cold January night had really taken it’s toll on our boys. Despite a great effort up front from the M boys, and some heroic defence from Yeaman and Millett – the boys sadly lost 3-0.

However, this didn’t dishearten our player- they still progress to the next round and have a chance of getting through to the national finals! Time for some hard training in preparation for Feb 7th!

Children had a special visitor in assembly today – Rory the Tiger! He was here with Marc Daddy from Tigers Trust to talk about an exciting fundraiser in February. Children will have the chance to try and score penalties against Rory, Marc and Mr. Morgan!! In the process, they will raise money for PE resources and experiences in the future. A full report will follow, but needless to say we are all very excited about this event!

Centre: Man of the Match and Most Improved player, Alfie Hewitt, celebrates at the end of a cold, muddy and dark night! 

Tonight was the last night of Rugby club. Children have battled through all weathers to improve their skills and have fun. The progress has been fantastic and we have some real stars in the making. Some children even brought their Santa hats for the final game – half of which was played in the dark! Well done children.

We a very happy to have been awarded a grant of £500 from The Stephen Hughes Foundation. The Foundation, in memory of Hull PE teacher Stephen Hughes, awards schools money to fund schemes to develop programmes which encourage sport and physical activity. Our money will be used to set up a cycling club; including purchasing four new bikes!

Hazel and Matty, trustees of the charity popped by to talk to the children about the work they do and to present our cheque! We are very excited to get this up and running -watch this space for news on our club!

Today it was Y2’s turn to represent the school in football at Tigers Trust’s Year 2 football festival! Children had a fun afternoon of games and skill – they even took some penalties again Rory the Tiger!!!
