This term in Year 5, the children have been practicing, perfecting and performing as gymnasts. We have implemented and perfected both the counter balance (a push force) and a counter tension balance (a pull force) into various routines with our partners while using various apparatus. To ensure we performed as a gymnasts, we concentrated on both our posture and the extension of our hands and feet for finesse and elegance. In our final routines, we ensured that our movements flowed and also incorporated a sequence of movements which were in unison (at the same time) with our partner as well as movements which were on cannon (separate) to our partner.
Here are a range of our counter balance and counter tension holds, in which some incorporate a level of complexity with holds and balances at different levels on various apparatus.
And here is a sequence of movements using the mats…
- A clear start to our routine
- Moving into to a counter balance
- Incorporating a counter tension balance
- Moving into a standing counter tension balance
- Adding a little complexity to our hold
- Ending with a twist and turn in unison with our partner
And here is a sequence of movements using the apparatus…
- Stepping onto the apparatus in Unison
- Creating a counter balance
- Moving off the apparatus in unison
- Dismounting the apparatus in canon with a jump
