PE Scholarship: Tri-Golf!

For the last two weeks, our scholarship group have been trying the fun, but technically tricky sport of Tri-Golf. In the first week children got to grip with the putters and chippers by practising their swings on different surfaces and experimenting with feet positions and stances to see what happened to the resulting putt or chip. Children then had a go at several different Tri-Golf festival games where they had to complete different challenges to score points. After trying this game mode out and seeing the types of equipment used, children then had an opportunity to create their own games for others to play. There were some fantastic challenges created!

Week 2 saw our scholarship group (plus some Y4s for good measure) put when they had learned into practice at the Hull Active Schools Tri-Golf Championships. This was timed competition where children competed in teams of ten, five boys and five girls, across ten different golf challenges, They had five minutes per station to score as many points as they can. When the results came in, our children were very please! In the 3/4 competition, out Y4 team came 3rd and in the Y5/6  competition, our Y5 team came 2nd and our Y6 team came first! These incredible results saw all children receive a medal and also qualify for the Active Humber county finals in June. A huge well done children!

Week 1: Comparing surfaces on a chipping challenge.

Week 1: Competing in their own festival activities.

Y5 taking on a putting challenge at the HAS competition.

Tri-Golf is fantastic for keeping fit as it requires constant running back and forth in order to have lots of goes in the allowed time. Children found it to be very tiring!
