Year 3/4 Land Art!

We had a special visitor in to work with some of the year 3/4 children this week. We had lots of natural resources to use and worked together to create land art. Our theme was ‘Jungle Book’ and it was really fun to create some of the characters from the book! We all had a fantastic time working as a team and using a wide range of resources.

Identifying different types of angles

Miss Stainton’s maths class have been busy working collaboratively to identify different types of angles. We have been using the vocabulary ‘obtuse, acute, and right angles’ when describing them. All of the angles were linked to rainforest plants which also helped our topic knowledge!

Y3/4 Meet some rainforest animals and insects!

We all arrived at school this morning super excited for our visit from Zoolab! We have been looking forward to this for weeks because we knew we would have chance to see, and even touch, some of our visitors! We were all very brave and loved getting up close to these animals and insects… Look at some of these photographs which show how much fun we had! What an amazing morning!

Today they had to solve some rainforest animal riddles to reveal the hidden shapes the animals were hiding! There was some excellent team work going on as the children ventured around the pod working in pairs.

Year 1 compare stories

Year 1 have been reading different versions of the story `The Three Little Pigs` and have been thinking about aspects of the stories that are the same and different. The children loved the version from the Wolf`s perspective. Was he big and bad after all?

Rainforest Artwork

Miss Stainton’s class have been working really hard on their drawing, cutting, and sticking skills recently! We have been inspired by our new topic ‘Rainforests’ and have drawn some fantastic artwork. We also studied the fascinating ‘Morpho butterfly’ and created our own models of them. We definitely have some excellent artists in year 3!

Learning to tell the time!

Miss Stainton’s maths class have been working hard over the past few days learning how to tell the time. Today they were given pretend watches to wear and they had to ask all of their classmates to show them their watches. They then had to work out what time it said and write it down on their sheets. The children worked so hard to try complete their sheets so that they had everyone’s times written down, excellent work year 3!
