F1’s week

Week commencing 19th November

This week we have been learning about Superheroes and their special powers. We had great fun on Wednesday dressing up as our favourite superhero! We had some superheroes stuck in the ice and we had to rescue them!

We have also been counting this week and listening to words that rhyme.

Woodland Project Part 2: First Planting

To was a very exciting and historic day for Christopher Pickering as we finally began to plant our woodland. The day started with some of our amazing parents coming down to help. They got to pant some trees with their children which was wonderful and very kindly stayed to help others. Then, throughout the day, children from Y6-Y1 all planted a tree in our woodland areas. Also planted was our orchard near the 5/6 MUGA and a new plantation of oak trees along the back of the field.

Many thanks to staff, parents and children for a lovely day. Special thanks to our Y6 helpers who worked with our Y1 children to help them plant their trees. A thank you Andy and Sarah for your guidance, expertise and patience in helping us with this project!

This is as far as we can progress this year but we will keep you updated over the coming months (and decades!)

Children in Need Fun

The children in Y3/4 had a fabulous day raising money for Children in Need. We came to school in Non-Uniform and brought a donation. In the morning, we did Pudsey themed Maths and English lessons. In the afternoon, we got to on a bouncy castle, have a disco and eat a bun! It was lots of fun raising money for a good cause!

Our Superheroes have been frozen! Help!

Our poor superheroes have been frozen in ice by a baddy!  We need to get them out.  Alana said we could rub the ice to make it melt.  Eden said we could huff on it.  Henry said we could bang it!  After lots of huffing and puffing the ice melted enough for Eden to save Buzz.  Well done Eden!  What a hero.

TT Rockstars Club

Year 3/4 love Times Table Rockstars! We have had some amazing battles today in our lunchtime club today! The boys won this week, can the girls win next week?

Representations in Maths

Year 3 have been using Base 10 to help them understand the concept of column addition and subtraction. It has really helped us to understand the relationship between hundreds, tens and ones.

Fitbit Fun!

Year 3/4 love our new Fitbit Challenge and are so excited to wear our class Fitbit! Each week the classes in KS2 are challenged to see who can do the most steps each day. We have had lots of fun seeing how many steps we can get each day and can’t wait to beat our top score!

Stone Age Boy

Year 3/4 have been looking at the story ‘Stone Age Boy’ this half term. Across the half term, we have learned how to create character and setting descriptions with vocabulary for effect.

Furthermore, we have use the story as the basis of a diary writing unit and have created some fabulous diary entries.

Meet the Teacher

This half term we have had our parents in to come and meet our teachers. During the session, we became Cave Art experts and taught our parents how to create a piece of Cave Art. Everyone had lots of fun!
