Fruit Tasting in F1…

After writing shopping lists together earlier in the week, today we had a fabulous fruit tasting session. The children really enjoyed it and thought of lots of ways to describe the fruit. Strawberries were definitely the favourite!

“I like strawberries,” said Musa.

“It has seeds on it,” said Charlotte.

“It’s so sweet,” said Rory.

It’s snowing blossom!

What a wonderful morning F2 have had outside in our garden this morning!

Summer is nearly upon us as the weather has been glorious and the sunshine is beaming! We have noticed other signs of Summer as the flowers start to fully bloom and the trees become greener… we have loved observing and talking about the changes occurring in our F2 garden!

Today in the gentle wind it started to snow blossom as the pink petals floated and fell from the tree, we loved collecting the petals and counting how many we could spot!

We drew some amazing blossom trees using chalk exploring the colour pink and the different shades!

Tad!!!

F2 have loved reading the story ‘Tad’ by Benji Davies!!!

This story has inspired us to explore the lifecycle of a Frog, discussing how Tad starts his journey and where he ends up!

We have learnt lots of new key vocabulary, such as ‘frog spawn’ ‘tadpole’ ‘froglet’ and ‘frog’… and discussed how the life cycle continues and goes round and round.

Mrs Buss brought in some pretend frog spawn- chia seeds- we added water and mixed the gloopy mixture together to resemble real life frog spawn!

The children had a great time feeling and describing the spawn- describing it as “gooey’ “wet” “thick” and “gloopy”!

We had a great time mark making and drawing our own life cycles and could confidently talk about the process and change from frog spawn to frog!

Getting ready for Mother’s Day in F1

We thought we would do something slightly different for our mums this year.  Instead of making a card, the children have been using their fine-motor skills to get creative with lavender-scented salt dough.  Fingers crossed that the baking process goes well tomorrow!

Food tasting… with a difference!

Today we have been food tasting in F1.  The food from The Gruffalo story!  The children have tried roasted fox…

Jacob said, “It’s delicious.”

Millie said, “I like the black bits.”  They were the tips of the foxes’ noses!

Brody said,  “I like the nose I did.”

They tried owl ice cream…

Katie said, “It smells like owl.”

Bobby asked, “Can I have more?”

“I like it!  I like it cold,” said Trixie.

Then we tried scrambled snake!

Charlotte noticed, “It looks like springs!”

Jacob said, “It smells like snake slither!”

“Can I have more?” asked Levi.

A very successful day.  Well done everyone.

Holi!

F2 have had a wonderful day celebrating and learning all about the Hindu festival ‘Holi’

…a festival of colour and light!

We welcomed in the Spring festivities with this colourful and bright festival learning all about the traditions of Holi and how people from all around the world join in with the festival and share experiences together!

Holi is a popular and significant Hindu festival celebrated as the Festival of Colours, Love, and Spring. It celebrates the eternal and divine love of the deities Radha and Krishna!

We danced, sang and loved exploring colours in a variety of ways- paint throwing, mixing paint, face paints, water paint, colourful scarves and chalking patterns!

Here’s a few of our favourite snaps… (the paint throwing was definitely the best part!!!)

F1’s snowstorm

As part of Science Week, F1 created a swirling whirling snowstorm. We watched a clip of how the wind blows the snow around then thought about how we could move our ‘snow’.  Ella knew that wind blows the trees and snow.  Pixie knew that our boards could make ‘wind’.  The results were fantastic!

Obstacle fun!

This morning as part of our ‘board game day’ we played Obstacle Course Tiles and had lots of fun outside in the sunshine moving our bodies!

We worked together and helped each other, demonstrating different movements and exercises!

F2 Games Afternoon!

Thank you to everyone who attended our ‘Bring a Board’ Stay and Play afternoon!

The children had a wonderful afternoon playing a variety of old and new board games!

This term we decided to host our stay and play out of the classroom and try something a little different…never underestimate the power of a good old board game! These help children develop and build a variety of skills- patience, sharing, turn taking, logic and reasoning, problem solving and critical thinking!

Here are a few snaps of the afternoon…
