Bear Paw Biscuit Fun

This week, the children in F2 had a wonderful time bringing our story Goldilocks and the Three Bears to life through a fun and tasty activity!

We all got hands-on, carefully decorating our own bear paw biscuits. The ingredients we used were icing, chocolate chips and chocolate buttons to make our creations look just right! The classroom was full of smiles, creativity, and a little bit of mess (just how we like it!).

Of course, the best part was tasting our delicious bear paw biscuits at the end. What a yummy way to link our current story.

Kites in F1

In our current story ‘Titch’ the big brother and sister both have a kite.

We thought we’d have a go at making our own kites.  The children had to decorate their cut out shape, then cut a piece of ribbon for the tail, stick it in the right place then add a string to hold on to too.

Then they were ready to go!

Roo told me that we needed to wind to make our kites fly!  Well done Roo!

Then later on, instead of doing our Write Dance exercises, we changed it to Kite Dance!  Who would have thought that flying kites could help us develop our handwriting in the future!

Goldilocks and the three bears in f2

What a fantastic start to our new book this week. The children have been really engaged in the new topic and exploring the different areas in the classroom. They have been learning and retelling the story, roleplaying the characters and creating art with a Goldilocks theme. It’s been great to see how much everyone has enjoyed the new book and really immersed themselves in the topic.

F2 Owl Babies

The children have loved exploring the story of Owl Babies. We have learnt the story and actions to help us with this. We sequenced the story and talked about the beginning, middle and end. We have been exploring Owl activities and pretending to be owls. We made feather crowns to help us to pretend to be owls and used leaves to make an owl collage.

We finished the exploration of the story by changing the story. Miss Carrick’s class changed the owls to foxes and Mrs Wilkinson’s class changed the owls to hedgehogs.

Shopping lists

After eating all of Mrs Silverwood’s ingredients for porridge on Wednesday she didn’t have any left to make her porridge for breakfast on Thursday!  So some of our superstars wrote out shopping lists so she knew what she needed to buy.  Well done to Myla and Mia.  They were able to tell us what they had written on their lists!

F1’s map making

Today some of our children worked together to draw out maps of everything that they thought Goldilocks might see on her walk through the wood.  They came up with all sorts of ideas; trees, flowers, grass, the three bears, some birds and… a dragon!

Year 6 Dia de Los Meurtos

The children in Year 6 have been delving and looking into the festival Dia de Los Meurtos (The Day of the Dead).  They have been watching the animation linked to the festival and have been researching this vibrant colourful celebration with their aim to write a persuasive letter to Mrs Marson to enable them to dress up and join in the festivities!

Decoding The Food And Drink On A Day Of The Dead Altar : The Salt : NPR Dia de los Muertos, A Colorful Animated Short Film Showing the True ...

The children are really looking forward to be able to dress up, get their faces painted and learn more about this amazing topic!

ocean meets sky

Year 3 were surprised to find a mysterious suitcase left in our classroom this week. Who owns it? Where did it come from? What’s inside? Just some of the questions the Year 3 children had.

The children were very quick to notice that the suitcase had a label saying ‘Grandpa’.

Inside was many exciting things including a book labeled ‘Grandpa’s Stories’, some dumplings and a picture of a boy with a man.

We knew that these were all things telling us about our new story ‘Ocean meets Sky’ and we used them to help us make predictions.

Some children thought the story would be about eating dumplings on a boat in the sun whilst others thought the story could be about a special trip that Grandpa is going to take. We can not wait to discover who the characters are and what is going to happen in our story.

F1’s new areas…

We have been busy setting up the role play room, small world area and special story seat ready for our new text next week.  Can you guess the story?
