Can you guess what it is yet?!

This week Mrs Buss had changed around some of our classroom and had started to create a fabulous space for us to build some houses!!! The children were a big help and wanted to build a house using bricks! We discussed what houses were made from and how our own houses were built.

We decided to do some brick printing ready to create one of our houses. We had great fun looking at bricks, and the colours. The children mixed lots of colours together to make the perfect brick shade red/brown and loved getting stuck in pushing their bricks and stamping on the paper! We made a great brick wall and had lots of fun in doing so!

This term our topic is ‘Houses and Homes’ and we will be looking at different houses around the world and how they are made… Can you guess what our story could be in Literacy? Something with a brick house, a straw house and a stick house…

Jackson Pollock

F2 have been very busy studying and researching the artist ‘Jackson Pollock’ over the last term! Today the children had great fun creating their own Jackson Pollock inspired artwork by flicking and splatting their brushes to create very colourful and bright masterpieces!

The children had great fun mixing and making their own colours and enjoyed splatting paint whilst listening to some music! This definitely got our creative juices flowing and we had so much fun dancing, painting and expressing ourselves! Definitely our favorite artist technique studied so far!

A little surprise…

When we looked in our special bag today, Harriet thought she spotted a bag of sugar but Charlotte said it was ‘powder’.  Eva guessed it was flour.  She was right.

Then we found a tub of salt.  Mrs Silverwood thought it might be sugar but tasted a little bit, it wasn’t very nice at all!  Elliot said that his Grandad likes salt.

We looked at the instructions, which told us how to make salt dough.  We thought it was a bit like play dough but, instead of putting it away when we have finished making things, we can bake them and keep them forever!

The children used their growing motor-skills to knead the dough and then roll it out.

Everyone will have to wait and see the finished article though!

Autumn Painting in F1

There was only this toy in our special bag this morning but Harriett knew that it could spin round and round.  Who knew that it would change colour as it whizzed round though!

Making waves in F1

This week in F1 we are learning all about the story Commotion in the Ocean.

In the creative area this morning we have enjoyed creating waves by mixing the colours green, blue and white to blend and create different shades of each colour.

Doodle Club

This week is Sports Week so we have kept that in mind when we created our doodles tonight.  The children have attempted a running figure and then ‘doodled’ away into them.  The results are looking pretty good!

We’ve had some great levels of concentration again.  Well done!

Doodle Club

Our ‘Doodle’ Club has started off brilliantly.  All of the children who have come are so engaged, it’s brilliant!  So lovely to see old faces again, it’s like they never left Foundation Stage!

Kandinsky Trees…

Taking inspiration from all that we have learnt the past few weeks from the famous artist ‘Kandinsky‘ today we created some AMAZING Kandinsky themed tree pictures! We loved creating small concentric circles and patterns along our tree branches and loved exploring and talking about different colours we could use and blend! These trees look spectacular on show in our classroom!!!
