The children have been exploring how to make their butterfly wings the same on both sides.

Vinny thought it was, “Like a mirror.”
Rory said, “It closed then it opened again like a beautiful butterfly!”
Rory also thought, “It’s magic.”
But Pixie said, “It’s Science.” How clever!

After writing shopping lists together earlier in the week, today we had a fabulous fruit tasting session. The children really enjoyed it and thought of lots of ways to describe the fruit. Strawberries were definitely the favourite!
“I like strawberries,” said Musa.
“It has seeds on it,” said Charlotte.
“It’s so sweet,” said Rory.

After clearing the room for our fantastic Easter singing session yesterday, we made the most of the space this morning. Everyone listened really carefully whilst I gave them each instruction and drew my picture on the board. They then did each step themselves to create their brilliant pictures! Well done F1!

We thought we would do something slightly different for our mums this year. Instead of making a card, the children have been using their fine-motor skills to get creative with lavender-scented salt dough. Fingers crossed that the baking process goes well tomorrow!

Year 4 Art Club is going really well. We’ve been comparing different portraits and how it feels to draw faces of different ages. Some of the results are amazing!

Today we have been food tasting in F1. The food from The Gruffalo story! The children have tried roasted fox…

Jacob said, “It’s delicious.”
Millie said, “I like the black bits.” They were the tips of the foxes’ noses!
Brody said, “I like the nose I did.”
They tried owl ice cream…

Katie said, “It smells like owl.”
Bobby asked, “Can I have more?”
“I like it! I like it cold,” said Trixie.
Then we tried scrambled snake!

Charlotte noticed, “It looks like springs!”
Jacob said, “It smells like snake slither!”
“Can I have more?” asked Levi.
A very successful day. Well done everyone.
As part of Science Week, F1 created a swirling whirling snowstorm. We watched a clip of how the wind blows the snow around then thought about how we could move our ‘snow’. Ella knew that wind blows the trees and snow. Pixie knew that our boards could make ‘wind’. The results were fantastic!

We couldn’t have had a ‘water day’ in F1 without splashing in puddles! Or in our case, splashing in water trays. Some of our children, who have been unsure about donning waterproofs and wellies in the past, were brave enough to give it a try. And what fun they had…

Other were slightly more subdued…
