partitioning numbers to 1000

Year 3 have been working on our place value unit in maths to start the term. We have looked at hundreds, tens and ones and how these make up numbers to 1,000. We have used the base 10 resources this week to help us partition our numbers. We began by making a number and the partitioning it in to hundreds, tens and ones.

We then looked at how these numbers could be partitioned more flexibly. We realised that when we add our parts together they add up to the same whole number. We moved our hundreds, tens and ones around to see how many ways we could partition a number.
