Making Bread!

Can you guess what story we have been reading this week from the clues below?

The Little Red Hen!

We have loved reading this story together in class this week and have had lots of lengthy discussions about sharing and helping each other! We have chatted about animals you might see on a farm and the different jobs that might happen there.

The story led us to lots of discussions and talk about bread...if we like it, what we like on it and where it comes from!

We realised that it doesn’t start in the local shops but that it is made and comes from a crop called wheat…which is farmed!!!

We had lots of fun watching the process of harvesting and collecting wheat and how this is ground to make flour in a mill.

We then had a go at using flour to make our very own bread, which was lots of fun, and messy too! We stirred, poured and needed to make the perfect dough ready for cooking in the oven and eating with some home-made butter! The children enjoyed this part!
