This week in F2, we have enjoyed sharing all our Easter news, exploring Spring and celebrating the festival of Holi.
We went on a walk around the school grounds looking for signs of Spring… we spotted blossom on the trees, saw beautiful green leaves and even heard some birds singing. Then, in literacy we wrote “I can see…” sentences, thinking about all the beautiful things we saw.
On Wednesday we all dressed in our brightest colours to celebrate Holi … which is a festival celebrated by Hindus. It marks the start of spring and is sometimes known as the Festival of Colour. It’s all about getting together and having fun, no matter who you are. Everyone chases each other with dry powder paint and coloured water.
We embraced Holi, by singing, dancing and exploring lots of ways to use colour…we painted, we chalked and used dry powder paint on sheets and the pavement…though some of us did get it on ourselves! We all had such a happy time.
In maths we recapped our learning of doubles, odd and even numbers and we have been practising our number bonds to 10.
In PSHE the children shared their bedtime routines. First, we chatted about what they do before bed, what they wear, what time they go to bed, if they have a story, a special toy to cuddle and if any of them say their prayers … it was lovely for us all to hear and share our different routines. Then, we learnt about how important sleep is, as that’s the time when our bodies grow and repair.
