On Monday night, four Y6 girls and four Y5 boys represented the school in the Sainsbury’s School Games New Age Kurling festival at St. Mary’s Sports College. New Age Kurling is an adaptation of the popular winter olympics games except it doesn’t require ice to play! it was a big night for our boys as they were all making their school games debut and were very excited to be in a team together! Macy Ledger was also making her sporting debut.

Our children had a fantastic time playing this game and did an excellent job of representing the school. After the group stages, teams were placed into a mini-tournament to decide their final finishing places. Despite the chances being very slim, our two teams ended up in the same finals group! Dubbed the ‘Christopher Pickering El Classico’ by Mr. Arridge, the children had a fantastic final game which was very close. The boys eventually beat the girls by one point and were fantastic sportsmen when congratulating the girls on their achievement.

In the end, the boys finished 8th place and the girls 9th – a fabulous result considering there were 22 teams! Well done children.
