In Year 1, the children developed a wide range of art and design techniques using colour, pattern, texture, line and shape. First they explored different lines and patterns such as curves and zigzags.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the next lesson we made observational drawings of buildings in the local area. We chose to focus on The Deep and the Humber Bridge as the children were familiar with these buildings.

Next we introduced the artist David Hockney to inspire the children to create their own piece of art in his style.

 

Here are some of the final pieces. To create this the children used the skills they have previously learnt and a combination of pencils and chalk pastels.
