Viking Shields

Over the past three afternoons, Year 5 have been learning all about our new topic for the term: Anglo Saxons and Vikings. The main subject we have been discussing is the Anglo Saxon and Viking shields: analysing genuine and replica images of shields and gathering conclusions about what the Vikings were like, based on the fact they had shields.

The children participated in a craft activity then designed their own shields and used paper mache to create a boss in the centre of their shields. They then painted their chosen design onto their templates. Here are some photographs of our designs.
