Piet Mondrian

This week, the children had a wonderful time learning about the artist Piet Mondrian, famous for his artwork using primary colours, bold black lines, and simple shapes.

We began by exploring the primary colours red, blue, and yellow and the children experimented with colour mixing to see what new colours they could create. They loved discovering how colours can change when mixed together, showing great curiosity and creativity.

we even took our Mondrian inspiration outside and created our own pieces of art with chalk using the primary colours and shapes just like he did!

After looking closely at Mondrian’s style, the children created their own final piece inspired by him. They enjoyed arranging shapes, painting blocks of colour, and using lines to separate each section, just like how Mondrian did.

They look magnificent displayed around our classroom and art area!!!
