Autumn Week 1 – 9th September 2024

Monday

As Geographers, we were learning about urban and rural areas today as we begin to think about the UK and how land is used for food and homes.

Tuesday

In our tuneful Music lesson this afternoon, we had our first recorder lesson! We were very excited and have decided that we would like to learn how to play a song so that we can do a mini concert for our families.

Wednesday

During this week’s community visit, we braved the elements and went to East Hull Community Farm. Although the hail stones fell on the minibus during the journey there, we were lucky enough to have bright sunshine when we arrived, making the afternoon ever more enjoyable.

Thursday

For PE this term, we are learning the skills needed to play Rugby. We enjoyed a lesson on the field, working with partners to develop a throw across our bodies when the weather took a rapid change and we found ourselves in dancing in the hail! After we dried off a little, we headed inside to play dodgeball with staff from the Tigers Trust.

Friday

Congratulations to Dylan for being our Gold Book Certificate recipient this week. We love your determination and fantastic attitude towards learning and that you demonstrate this is every single lesson! A great start to the year!

W/C 20th May 2024

Art inspired by our visit from Flash the Tortoise.

Lucy’s super show and tell dancing session – she can not wait to see Taylor Swift and we are very jealous!

George was delighted to be the recipient of the Gold Book Certificate for his amazing work.

Enjoying social games with our friends 🙂

Word processing our stories that we wrote in English to publish our own books!

Daryl was very proud of his book and couldn’t wait to take it home.

And finally, we met the HU4 community group as well as our families to plant out bedding plants and to help to improve Dragon Park 🙂

W/C 13th May 2024

Chefs, Chicks and Park-Tig!

Chefs

This week in the kitchen, we had a few surplus tomatoes so we decided to make our own pasta sauce again. We carefully chopped the tomatoes …

The we added oil, herbs, garlic and tomato puree and simmered it for over 20 minutes before adding basil leaves which Harvey gathered from our school herb garden.

Next, we boiled the pasta in salted water…

Then we sieved out the ‘bits’ of the sauce and enjoyed a yummy bowl of pasta and sauce each.

Chicks

We were very grateful to the foundation stage for inviting us to meet their chicks before they left school for life on the farm. We were very gently holding and stroking the chicks and really enjoyed this experience.

Park -Tig

As a Friday reward, for working hard all week, we popped to Gower Park. The next round of Park-Tig was played with Children v’s Adults, where Mr Norton and miss Wileman kept these keen players on their toes!

w/c 7th May 2024

The HUB class have very carefully cared for some tiny caterpillars that have now emerged from their chrysalis as beautiful, Red Admiral butterflies.

We learned how to make a pasta salad this week!

First, we learned that the water has to reach 100 degrees and be bubbling.

Then, we carefully added the dry pasta.

Next, we gave it a stir!

While we were waiting, we chopped our cucumber and tomatoes.

.

After that, we learned how to use the grater to grate the carrot and added all the salad to the bowl.

Then we drained the water out of the cooled pasta and added it to the salad.

.

Finally, we topped it with mayonaise or salad cream!

Delicious! 🙂

.

A double thumbs up from Aziz, he cant wait to make it again!

.

Science week – Family Session

A HUGE thank you to all of the family members that came to celebrate Science week with us, participating in some hands on, fun lessons!

We worked hard, reading and following instructions to build a catapult, then explored the firing range, changing one variable to make it a fair test. We even plotted our results on some fantastic graphs. Take a look at our great photos!

Science Week

We launched  Day One of Science week with a fun, hands on STEM challenge. Who can build the tallest spaghetti tower?

We got a little competitive …

The winning team! Well done boys!

World Book Day Celebrations

What a great day we had, celebrating all that we love about books and sharing our favourite bed time reads!

We visited Asda to exchange our WBD Voucher for a book of our choice 🙂 and paid for it ourselves at the till. The ASDA staff commented on how wonderful our manners were.

So this is what Mario does when he’s not in game mode….

Mr Bean loves writing … and is excellent at it!

Peter rabbit loves to hop away from Mr McGregor and hide in the library…

Iron man loves being an inspiring player during the Tigers Trust games.

We love chilling with a book at bedtime, especially when her can share it!

.

The Hulk smashed his reading today but luckily he was very careful when he turned the pages 🙂
