It’s been so exciting watching our butterflies hatch out of their cocoons this week. The children have tried so hard to be quiet around the houses and have spent a long time just watching the butterflies as their wings dry out.

We all know the Makaton sign for ‘butterfly’ too. Noah and Ada-Grace were showing each other whilst they watched the butterflies together.

However, today we had to let our butterflies go and find a home. They took a little bit of time to get used to being outside and were happy to sit on our hands so long as we were very still. It was fabulous to be able to see them at such close quarters.

One of them had a flutter and then landed on Ada-Grace’s boot! It was beautiful!

This week we talked about how farmers not only look after animals but they also grow vegetables for us. We looked at how they grow and talked about how healthy they are.
In the end we decided to make vegetable soup! Nearly everyone tried it and lots of us thought it was delicious!

We chopped up the vegetables then added them to our pan. We had to cook them to make them soft. Then we used a blender (well done Kenya for knowing what it was called) to make the soup smooth.

We have created beautiful butterflies with paint and then printing. They look quite beautiful in the classroom.

F1 have been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Some of the children wrote shopping lists of the food from the story they would like to try. Today, that’s what we did!

Gracie chose apples, (bananas), pears, Swiss cheese and cupcakes!
Malik said, “My apple is so delicious.”
Koby said it was crunchy.
Tommy said, “My red apple was sugary as well.”
When we tried the slices of pear, Arabella said, “It’s not soft, it’s not hard, it’s just juicy.”

Anniya W looked at her cheese and said, “It’s got holes in it!”
We thought it was like ‘mouse cheese’!
Fareedah said, “Mouse cheese,” and laughed.

We talked about which foods were healthy and which were just treats and had lots of chat to share about them all. Well done for trying everyone!
