This week we had…”The Best Day EVER!” celebrating the annual event of HULL FAIR!
We talked about our experiences of going to Hull Fair and discussed our favourite bits. We explored our senses of the fair… what can we see, smell, hear, touch and taste!
“I had candy floss, it was pink and soft”- Sara
“I had sausage and chips, it was tasty!”- Ivy
“I saw a Helter Skelter, the slide was going round and round, it was so fast!” -Mason
“There was a big wheel, it’s a giant one!”- Poppy
Following the children’s excitement we held our own fun fair… making chocolate apples, coconut shy, target games, hoops, big building and roller coaster riding! Our children declared it the “the BEST day ever!”

This week in F2!
There has been a crime in F2!
The only people who can solve it are our very own detectives! Luckily they were up for the job and wasted no time in the hunt for clues! A broken chair? Porridge oats? And a strand of golden locks??? Who could it be???
We had the best afternoon discovering clues from our story of the week and loved drawing a picture of our discovered culprit to use as posters for our classroom! We had some brilliant discussions and TALK time as a group. We all decided to take our hunt outside…we may have even spotted GOLDILOCKS herself running from the scene of the crime!
We came to the conclusion that she must have smelt the delicious porridge we had been cooking in the morning and decided to sneak a taste whilst we were out over dinner! We think she needs to write a letter of apology!!!

F2 have been reading and learning the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears!’
This week we have created our own signifiers to retell the story and have enjoyed acting out the story using props!
This morning Mrs Buss brought in a magic wand and a magical chair! When we sat on the chair we magically transformed into characters from the traditional tale! We loved meeting and chatting to Goldilocks and Baby Bear and thought of some brilliant questions to ask them. We wanted to know “Why Goldilocks ate all of Baby Bear’s porridge?” and “Did she feel sorry for breaking his chair?” Goldilocks was very sorry and said she would help fix it. We had so much fun getting into character and thinking about the story…
We can’t wait to meet and question some more of the characters this week!

A BIG thank you to all the parents that attended our Foundation Stage ‘Stay and Play’ session this afternoon! The children and ourselves had a lovely afternoon showing you our classroom and everything we have been busy doing the last few weeks! It was lovely to see the children take such pride and joy in ‘showing off’ their work and learning journey and the parent feedback made us all burst with pride at how amazing the children have worked! Here are a few snaps of our afternoon…Keep your eyes peeled for the next date coming up soon…
The Foundation Stage Team

Today Foundation Stage received a surprise package!

The children were so excited to open it! We guessed what could be inside and who it was from? It had our name and address on?

We opened it to find a GIANT PAIR of TEETH!!!
This led to lots of discussion about who these teeth belonged to and where they had come from?! Some children suggested perhaps they could belong to their Grandad…but then they were too large! Some perhaps a dragon…but not quite sharp enough! We came to an overall conclusion that they must belong to a GIANT! And that we needed to look after them until he came back to get them. We talked about how we would look after these teeth and how we look after our own!
This led to us finding more GIANT clues later on and going on a GIANT HUNT!

We found some HUGE shoes, a giant shirt, some large socks and some more GIANT teeth hiding in the soil! We had so much fun digging up clues and investigating our outside area to see what we could spot…
Our GIANT journey continued in P.E…we had great fun leaping like a giant and making giant shadows, stretching out wide and reaching out tall!

A BIG thanks to the local HU4 Community Network Team for donating a variety of beautiful flowers and herbs to our Foundation Stage flower beds! We had the best afternoon weeding and preparing our planters! We loved using our gardening tools and trowels, and getting our hands all dirty with compost and soil! We planted a selection of beautiful flowers, our favourites were definitely the Sunflowers! And we explored the different smells from the herbs (Thyme) and Lavender! We talked about some of the purposes of these flowers and herbs and what they needed to grow. We also carefully planted some strawberry plants, ready to be picked in the next few weeks! We can’t wait to watch our planters begin to fully bloom in the upcoming weeks…
In honour of the Queen’s upcoming Jubilee we have be doing all things Queenie this week! We had loads of fun in our Forest School session making mud portraits of our Queen. We talked about the texture of the paint we would need… not too wet, not too dry… we went digging for mud and then experimented adding water with our jugs to create the perfect consistency for our mud paint! It involved lots of digging, scooping, mixing, stirring… and group and pair talk about how much or how little water to add…
