Read, Write, Inc is the phonics scheme we teach in school. Read, Write Inc will be delivering phonics sessions on You Tube at 10.00am and 10.30 daily for your children. These will remain online for you to use for 24 hours.
Here is the link for the videos. Your child should watch the Set 2 and Set 3 sounds daily.
This week we are learning to read and spell split digraphs. This is when “special friends” ending in e are separated by another letter. For example: i-e is in words like bike, hike and ride. This can be tricky for young children to learn. There are four sheets to complete this week. It is also helpful to look out for these type of words when reading with your child or reminding your child about them during conversations. For example asking them to sound out bike ride.

Year 2 Homework
Week beginning 18.05.20
This week in maths we would like you to use the link below to access the ‘White Rose Maths’ website. This provides the content of the maths curriculum that we are currently missing so it would be a brilliant help if your child could complete the tasks.
Please focus on Week 3 Summer Term Lessons 1-5.
Each lesson has a short video clip to watch to assist with teaching and learning the concept, then an activity sheet to complete. Remember these do not need to be printed as the answers can just be written into the maths books we have provided. An answer sheet is also provided so you can mark the work together.
Lesson 1 – Fact families addition and subtraction bonds to 20
Lesson 2 – Compare number sentences
Lesson 3 – Related Facts
Lesson 4 -Add and subtract ones
Lesson 5 – Friday Maths Challenge
All of these activities can be written up into your English books that were sent home.

The Bear Who Came to Babysit – Choose one of the versions of the story that meets your ability then answer the questions. There are three versions to choose from.
Year 2 Common Exception Words – Practise reading all of these words, keep practising until you can read them all. Once you can read them, see if you can spell them!
Encourage your child to read for pleasure with the stories you have at home. Reading for pleasure for 10 minutes a day significantly boosts your child’s range of vocabulary.
In addition, Reading Eggs have produced some fantastic home learning resources to support school closures. Below is a reading comprehension pack for Year 2.
For children who are not on the Read, Write Inc programme (in Mrs Yardley’s and Miss Stockton’s phonics groups) then the below website has some great phonics games to play. Please follow the below link and type in the information. Children need to be recapping sounds from phase 5 but accessing games from phase 6.
